I chose this MayX because of the content, the travel, and the people (in no particular order). I've always loved math, logic, and puzzle solving (sudoku, Mensa, etc.). In middle school, my friends and I even created our own "codebook" with all the different codes and ciphers we used to write notes to each other. So I'm excited to revisit this topic that I found interesting even at a young age. I'm especially excited to see the many ways it can relate to my comp sci major. I'm also looking forward to visiting London. I've never really been out of the country (except once to Canada when I was two so that doesn't count...), so one of the reasons I chose Furman was for the study away opportunities. I've always wanted to travel abroad, including to London, and I'm excited to have the chance to spend two weeks there! And socially, I can't wait to spend three weeks with some of my closest friends while also getting to know better the other students here, whether they live with me on my dorm hall or in Riley Hall :)
There's so much I'm looking forward to doing in London, but if I had to pick three...
1) Romeo and Juliet at the Globe Theater - I've always loved Shakespeare, both reading and watching his plays
2) London Symphony Orchestra - one of the top orchestras in the world, to hear them live would be amazing!!
3) High tea - I love tea and pastries and scones and jams and finger foods and flowers and fancy china and getting dressed up. Or the Dover trip, because I also love old castles and gorgeous scenery.
