Ava Kinghorn

Hello! My name is Ava Kinghorn, and I am a rising sophomore from Durham, NC (go Blue Devils!). I have not officially declared any majors yet, but I intend to declare a double major in Mathematics and Religion. I am also on the pre-Occupational Therapy track, and I plan to go to OT school after I graduate. In my rare and treasured free time, I love reading Wendell Berry and Pat Conroy, playing guitar with my brother, and baking something with lots of chocolate.

I am so delighted to be on this MayX! One of my favorite childhood hobbies was solving all sorts of logic puzzles and code-based problems, so this trip will be a chance to extend that passion into the world of cryptology. I am particularly interested in its intersections with World War II history--I am looking forward to learning more!

I am also looking forward to the beautiful London weather! Highs in the 60s and 70s are a welcome break from summers in the South. But more than that, I am very excited for our trip to Bletchley Park! I've also only ever seen the Globe from afar, so I am quite excited to see Romeo & Juliet! And of course, I cannot wait to try yummy food and explore local restaurants. I plan to eat lots of scones with jam and clotted cream. :)
