Kali Javetski

Hello! My name is Kali Javetski. I am a Junior Applied Mathematics/Computer Science double major from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I come from a family of 6 and I am the oldest of 4, with 3 younger sisters who I am very close with. Growing up, I was a competitive dancer and I was on the Furman Dance Team my freshman and sophomore years of college. I spend a lot of time outside and I absolutely love going to the beach, I go almost any chance I get.

Coming into college, I knew I wanted to try and study abroad but was unsure about a whole semester so a MayX really interested me as I was able to go abroad yet it would not be a whole semester away. This MayX in particular caught my eye as codes and codebreaking had alway been an interest of mine. Cryptology is also a field I used to talk about wanting to have a career in, and while that has changed slightly, it is still a field I want to learn more about. Getting to learn about cryptology and also dive deeper into the history of it all sounded so interesting and I am really excited to get to expand my knowledge on these things.

As far as what I am excited for, I can honestly say everything. I have never been to London before, or anywhere European so I am very excited to travel there. If I had to pick just three things though, I think I would say Romeo and Juliet at the Globe for sure. This being as I love theater and plays/musicals, so I think this will be a really cool experience. I am also very excited for a 10k I plan to run in Richmond. I have gotten into running recently so I think this will be lots of fun and I am excited to venture out and explore Richmond in my free time. And then last (but not least), I am excited about the spy themed walking tour. I have always thought spies were cool, any movie with spies and I am interested to see what this walk entails but I think it will be really cool!
