If I had enough time for three majors at Furman, history would likely be my third. I have always had a passion for history and even went through a phase in high school where I was obsessed with British history in particular. I view this MayX as an incredibly unique opportunity to blend my passions for math and history, and can't wait to learn about both the mathematical and historical aspects of cryptology. I've gotten some exposure to cryptology in some of my math classes, and I'm eager to take this deeper dive into the field. I hope that this experience will continue to build my problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. I also can't wait to get to know the other students on the trip and see everyone's projects at the end of the program!
I have been to London once but it was only for a few days, so I'm excited to have more time to explore the city. I'm really looking forward to all the day trips we will take, especially the trips to Bletchley and Dover. The trip to Bletchley Park will be so interesting, and I can't wait to see the cliffs at Dover because I love scenic landscapes. Another London experience I'm looking forward to is the food, which I think is pretty self-explanatory. Finally, I'm excited to see a play at the Globe and to get to experience all of the culture in London. I'm hoping to see at least one show in the West End (if not more) and will hopefully also see the London Symphony Orchestra as well. London pretty much has it all, and I can't wait to explore everything!
